I don't think it adds a fee, but what I found was it changed the coverage and the ability to send email text and even call out. ?An AT&T rep told me that when you are on another network (remember roaming years ago while you were in the US) AT&T has to pay a fee to use other carriers towers. ?While incoming emails, texts and the like will go through, they can limit what goes out and essentially cut their costs. ?I'm not happy with this answer as there are many months I don't use all my data and rarely do I end up "off network" and I do not demand a refund. ?However, I was old that is just the way it is.
