Hi there,
Your setup sounds a bit different. Are you saying that on the iPhone 6, you're wanting to locate the family member device strictly over wifi?
Some initial things to check:
- Family member device has AT&T FamilyMap installed and running in the background (i.e. press and hold home button and you should see the app as one of the running apps).
- Location Services are enabled.
- Family members must join your FamilyMap family - when you try to locate the device, if you get a failed location message, you should see a popup or screen with info to Improve Locates with the lines on your FamilyMap account listed. You need to tap on the lines you can't locate and invite them to join your family. The family member will receive a couple of SMS instructing them them to click a link which opens the app and then tap to Join Family (not the Sign In link). I think an activation code is also sent. The family member(s) must complete this step to register their device with the FamilyMap servers or locates will fail.
- Push notifications must be enabled for FamilyMap - this should be enabled by default when you install the app but it's always good to double check if you can't locate the device. You can find this in the iPhone Settings menu.
If the steps above do not work, can you please send me a private message with the parent mobile number (i.e. the mobile number used to sign up for FamilyMap), the family member mobile number(s) you're trying to locate, device make/model associated with each number, what version of iOS are you using on the device, and what version of the FamilyMap app you're using? I can have the team start investigating.
Thanks much!
