If there have been changes to the MMS protocol that I'm not aware of and it is now supported over wifi, then maybe I'm wrong, but until someone proves it to me, I'll continue to believe that MMS does not work over wifi. As you noted, your preferred client "Textra" has a setting for wifi over MMS.  That means when it is using wifi, it is not using MMS but rather it is using some other protocol. All I'm saying is that the MMS messaging protocol does not work over wifi. Other messaging protocols may well work over wifi."

You may be correct about it using some other protocol, although if you're right, it really paints AT&T Tech Support in a bad light since they (obviously, see my previous posts here) are convinced that MMS over wi-fi should work.

I recall that the advertised ability to actually use wi-fi for MMS was one of the reasons I got Textra. All I know for sure is: before the 4.4.4 update, it worked flawlessly without having to turn wi-fi off, now it requires that wi-fi be turned off- Since the 4.4.4 update, I can neither send nor receive MMS using any of the 3 clients on my phone as long as wi-fi is enabled.

On a probably unrelated note, the 4.4.4 update also broke my clock widget, which keeps time for a day or two, then randomly just stops working (freezes) for no apparent reason- requiring a restart to get going again. Meanwhile, the default clock app continues to keep time flawlessly, which leads to the inescapable conclusion that 4.4.4 broke some connectivity somewhere. Very annoying, but an online search suggests that the 4.4.4 update broke ALL clock widgets, and nobody has an answer. I mention this only as an indication that wi-fi MMS isn't the only thing that the 4.4.4 update broke.

Thanks for your reply.
