Why doesn't att have an unlimited data plan and why do they screw you out of the grandfather clause I had unlimited data then chose to upgrade and now I don't have it anymore this company is robbing people blind honestly thinking I'd rather have a different phone company than be with att any longer sprint offers unlimited data. I work in the middle of no where and need my phone for checking emails or anything tired of paying this ridiculous amount of money for a data plan att use to be a good provider always have enjoyed the customer service anymore I feel like I'm just constantly throwing money in a trash can to pay for my phone bill

I doubt that AT&T "forced" you to give up your grandfathered "unlimited smartphone data plan."  They may not have added new functionality to it but as far as I know that are still letting people who have it keep it.  It becomes your choice to keep the unlimited data plan, or to give it up to get the new functions, or the lower prices for your bill.

I have about 30 email accounts on my iPhone, and I get an average of about 100-150 emails a day.  I still use less than 2GB of cellular data a month, and I'm on a 10GB shared plan with my wife (who averages about 5-6GB of cellular data a month because she watches lots of videos on cellular data).  I was paying about $180/month with the two grandfathers accounts with unlimited data, and since we switched to the Mobile Share plan, I'm paying about $120/month and we have never gone over our 10GB shared data limit in the 6 or 7 months since we switched.  Yes, I no longer have unlimited data, but I still have more data than I need, and I am saving $60/month over what I used to be paying.

You ask "why doesn't AT&T offer unlimited data?"  Well, other than they they do still allow the grandfathered customers to keep those plans if they already have them, they don't "need" to offer unlimited data to the other customers.  If you look at all of the cellular providers, you will see that AT&T is still making a profit for their shareholders, and still keeping many customers/getting new customers without having unlimited data, while the other carriers don't seem to be able to do that. The other carriers that offer "unlimited data" either don't have the same coverage as AT&T or they have their own restrictions & limitations for that data use.  In teh end, you need to do what you need to do.  If you feel it's moving to another carrier, I ask you to just make sure that they aren't "hiding details from you" in their "marketing speak" to make you think you're getting a great deal, only to find out that their restrictions & limitations are worse than the ones here at AT&T.  Sometimes there is no "good choice" only a "less bad choice".  Good luck with your decision making and final choice.  I will leave you with one last question, "Which is more of a waste, paying a premium fee for a service that works, or paying less, but having service that doesn't allways work where you want to use it?" (Sometimes the old adage of "you get what you pay for" holds true, and when you pay a lot less, you end up getting a lot less too.)
