It is because you are using the wrong email address. For AT&T, it is "your number"@sms@att.net or "your number"@mms.att.net.

I use it all the time and it works fine.

Sorry, but you are incorrect.  First of all, there is no such thing as @sms.att.net. (phone number changed to x's for privacy)

Sorry, we were unable to deliver your message to the following address.<xxxxxxxxxx@sms.att.net>:
No MX or A records for sms.att.net

Second, I already stated that I have tried @mms.att.net.

Please see the following AT&T webpage: http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=52589&cv=820#fbid=eL-0ieBsqpm

The problem is with whatever database the email 2 text mail servers are using to validate AT&T phone numbers.  When an email is sent to @txt.att.net or @mms.att.net, those mail servers look up the phone number in some database to see if it is an AT&T phone number.  For some reason, my phone number is not in that database.  I ported 2 phones from Verizon to AT&T at the same time.  One works, the other doesn't.  (again, phone number changed to x's for privacy.

I need an engineer from AT&T to help me who can fix this.  I have spent countless hours on the phone with AT&T Reps who tell me that everything is fine, or, they have fixed it, but it needs 24 hours to take effect.  And then they close the ticket, without it actually being fixed.

I have also been told that if I would just go to the AT&T store and ask for a new phone number, that would fix it.  And, I believe that a new phone number would fix it since it would be re-provisioned from scratch.  HOWEVER, I DON'T WANT A NEW PHONE NUMBER.  I want them to fix this phone number.

For some reason they "can't" re-provision my existing number.

Please - someone from AT&T, help me.

  Thanks.
