I recently purchased a Moto X 2nd Generation "Pure Edition" from the Motorola website and activated it on my Family Share NEXT account. Today, I am trying to install the AT&T Messages App, but the Google Play store says it is incompatible with all of my devices. I was able to install the tablet version on my tablets with no problems.
I suspect that the issue lies with the fact that I have a "Pure Edition" Moto X instead of the AT&T branded Moto X. The Google Play store does recognize that AT&T is my carrier, though, so I am not sure what device attribute is triggering the "incompatible" flag.
The web app and tablet work fine and I am now seeing messages sent from my phone via Hangouts appear, but I would like to get the backup and sync features, also.
Does anyone have any ideas about resolving this problem?
Incidentally, does anyone know how to find out why the Play store is throwing up this error? A bnch of websotes reference clicking a "+" icon next to the error message, but I don;t see that icon. Only an "x" icon which, when clicked, just confirms that the app is incompatible but provides no reason.
