Well I called back ATT and the agent on the phone insisted that MMS does charge data. So this is emplyee 2 out of 2 on the phone. I asked for a supervisor and after a long wait a supervisor gets on the phone and confirms that I am right and the employees were wrong.
I'm glad the phone agents have sufficient training to give out simple information. They were so sure of themselves, that no matter what evidence I said they disagreed with and stuck to their guns.
